Live from the WLNS newsroom........
The Mark vs. Tom Olympics was a fucking blast on Saturday. (I'll share pictures and POSSIBLY video later). We started at noon disc golfing with a warm 40 of bud light and ended at 10PM with a close game of beer pong.
The outcome: Tom won 5 to 4 and is crowned "The better person in life."
Here's a breakdown of the events:
1. Disc Golf (Tom won)
2. "Whore"/Basketball (Me)
3. Skeeball (Tom)
4. Air Hockey (Me)
5. Bowling (Me)
6. Pool (Tom)
7. Darts (Tom)
8. Dr. Mario (Me)
9. Beer Pong (Tom)
I am sorry to all my fans I let down. :( I was one beer cup away from winning and just couldn't come through with the clutch throw.
Thank yous go out to: Wendy (photo queen, DD and Jersey Giants hook up!), and also the video staff: Mike (Bowling name: John Oates), Roger (Bowling name: Daryl Hall), and Ryan (Bowling name: John Cougar).
Bowling was truly epic. Frames 9 and 10 were so much fun. And Roger- you throw one hell of wicked bowling ball.
Note: DDR had to be thrown out because we picked the wrong settings and really couldn't take another heated round AKA we would've had heart attacks. The baseball bat game was thrown out because we didn't have a bat.
Tom- I'm envious of your 55-tickets-katana. But I was happy with my ring, army man, vampire teeth, and tootsie roll though...
In other news: I got fired from my janitor job last night. I got caught talking on my cell phone during my shift last Friday and apparently that was reason enough to ax me. My boss is gutless and stabbed me in the back. I left him a voicemail (which looking back on it now was waaaay too nice) apologizing for my actions, told him it was unfortunate things had to end this way and wished him and two specific co-workers the best. I told him to call me back if he wanted, but the gutless bastard won't I'm sure. Julie got fired too. She was reading on the job. Bastards.
The bright side of all this is the fact that I now get to enjoyyyy the rest of these summer nights left and I would've been done with the job by mid August anyways (with basically 2 weeks off in between that). So not all is lost.
Roger, Julie, Trav, and I watched Closer last night. GREAT GREAT movie. The script was excellent, all 4 main characters played their roles well, and the way the relationships intertwined back and forth kept my attention the whole time. It was just sooo... different... even gritty... or something.... a must see.
The main question of the week for me issss: Do I want to stay up here for another 5 months and work at the news station orrrr move back home, save some cash for a couple months and look for something full-time at another station. Any advice would help...
That is all.
